Birthday Presents Benefit Greener Pastures Rescue

11 year old Maeve Hickey from Marlborough , CT had a birthday party in March of this year.  That is not an uncommon event, it is one kids look forward to each year, friends, fun and birthday presents make it quite a day.  What is uncommon, however, is that this birthday party was different than the usual.  Maeve wanted to do something for Charity and she loves horses.  She spoke to her horse back riding teacher, Joellen, who told her about the Greener Pastures Rescue.  Maeve asked her guests to give to a charity that helps horses in lieu of gifts.  The girls that attended the party were happy to donate the money to her cause, especially the girls that enjoy horses.

After the party, Maeve visited the farm to deliver her donation and met the horses living at the rescue.  She is seen here with Marshmallow an 18+ hands Percheron cross, gray, gelding who is 9 years old.  It was hard to tell who enjoyed the visit more, Maeve who loved coming to visit the farm and brush the horses or Marshmallow who enjoyed the brushing.

What a wonderful way for a young person to make a difference in the world.  The generosity of Maeve and people like her are what makes the work Greener Pastures Rescue does possible.

Because they are a not for profit 501(c)3, volunteer organization Greener Pastures Rescue receives no state or federal funding and relies solely on the generosity of their supporters and friends to continue their mission.  They have a waiting list of horses to transition through their facility. In the meantime, they have established a networking system through their database, their website and related websites to find homes.

Please feel free to contact them 860-886-8510 and visit their website to see pictures of the Silent Auction event and view horses available for adoption.  The website is www.greenerpasturesrescue.org and they are located at 16b Mill Lane , Salem , CT 06420 .
